CAMERA-BASICS (ISO-SENSITIVITY)

Today in camera basics we are going to make you aware about the ISO Setting of you smart phones.
The ISO setting generally refers to the setting which lets you choose the amount of light in your snapshot.
Generally it is set to auto mode which automatically detect the lightning conditions and accordingly sets the ISO level.but we can customize the ISO Level as per our requirement .
A camera image sensor is less receptive to light when set at a lower ISO number and the sensitivity sees a hike as soon as the ISO numbers are changed in an increasing fashion. If the ISO numbers are made to fall the sensitivity increases meaning vice versa. Parenthetically, Image sensor is the most expensive part of a camera device. It is the core component which transforms the rays of light coming out of an object into a picture imitating the object exactly like itself.

For clicking photographs on a bright, sunny, non cloudy day the standard ISO recommended is 100; and an ISO of 400 is commonly used for sports photography and 800 for bird photography etc. Its range starts from 50 and doubles from there to 100, 200, 400, 600, 1200 and so forth. Each increment or decrement leads to doubling or halving the sensitivity of light.

Camera ISO

In the modern digital age the complex enhanced devices use and ISO of as high as 1600 though this often brings in a lot more noise and exaggeration of distinctive features. One should increase the ISO’s when the environment does not provide one with enough light, for instance when shooting takes place in indoors or at dusk or on a cloudy day. Set the number at high and immediately capture the image of the object you had your eyes on. It could also be used when one has to freeze a motion. Like photographs of Para gliders taking off from a cliff, birds splashing water on the beginning of their flight etc.

A low ISO, on the other hand is suggested to use when light is already available in abundance. Set the bar at ISO 100 or 200 to retain the highest image quality with distinct texture.

So use the information and bend it to suit your purpose in dealing with the various overarching concerns of light while dealing with any element of exposure.
